Masomo Academy
Structured holiday learning. A remote learning platform with assignments, Q&A, and teacher-student interaction, used for structured holiday programmes.
Overview
Masomo Academy is an education product focused on holiday programmes: the gap between school terms where learning usually becomes informal.
The Problem
Holiday learning is often a pile of worksheets or an unfocused video list. Learners and teachers need structure, progress, and a real instructional loop.
The Approach
Keep teachers in the loop. Content without instruction is not a school. Progress has to be visible to the learner and the teacher.
System / Product Design
Courses, cohorts, and progress records. The product emphasises structure over a marketplace of disconnected lessons.
Technology
Django · PostgreSQL · Flutter · REST APIs
Challenges
Engagement without gimmicks
Holiday learners are not in a classroom. The product has to make the next lesson obvious.
Key Decisions
Teacher-led, not content-only
A platform that removes the teacher removes the reason parents trust the programme.
Outcome
Documented as a case study on billyokeyo.dev.
What I Learned
- Education products succeed when they respect the existing relationship between teacher and learner.
